If you’re wondering how Green Day managed to become the biggest punk band in the world, take a look at Bullet In A Bible. Recorded at Green Day’s two-night run at Milton Keynes National Bowl in June 2005, this combined CD/DVD sees these former bong-hitting Californian drop-outs embracing political activism, pantomime hilarity, and all the fripperies of a rock opera – and excelling at all three. The first half is essentially a run-through of the group’s 2004 album American Idiot, complete with anti-American rabble-rousing and a set of barbed insults tossed back at the rednecks across the pond. That out the way, the band careen into a sort of greatest hits set, with the likes of Longview and Hitchin’ A Ride sharing space with a brass-laden King For A Day that sees Billie-Joe Armstrong prancing the stage in crown and ermine cape, singing snatches of Lulu’s Shout and Eric Idle’s Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. Tremendously silly, but Green Day have managed to figure out how to play it like showmen without resorting to juvenile puerility or morphing into corporate yes-men, and that’s a way harder trick than it looks. – Louis Pattison

Amazing gig but... - This was an amazing show from Green Day but I m really not sure I like how heavily edited the DVD is. It s great to see all the alternate angles and stuff but they switch between them so much that it gave me a headache. But Green Day were awesome, I love it when Billie-Joe gets his whole cape-and-crown get up on for King for a Day. I also quite liked the snippets from the band from in between songs, especially the one that focuses on Tre! I would have rated five stars if it weren t for the epileptic seizure educing editing.

How about Tommy? - Dookie, when it came out, reminded me of early Who, who were a local group where I grew up. After hearing the CD, especially the cover of The Isley Brothers/Lulu s Shout, in the light of their own rock opera, American Idiot, I wonder how they would do Tommy. It s certainly, to me at least, an interesting proposition. How about it?

One of the best live albums ever! - For any real Green Day Fan you must have this. It has some of the best tracks on and gives you the atmosphere of really being there like I was. Some of them even sound better than the recorded. The DVD is very watchable aswell and keeps your interst with the band although I ve only seen my friends because mine even though first hand was scratched. It still rocks though.

AMAZING DVD!!!! - The DVD here is amazing. Its excellent to see Green Day performing live since they are so good at it. Billie Joe is a great showman, and the bassist and drummer are fun guys too. They really do perform well and I wish I could of been at this concert when it was on!!! The CD is just the songs on the DVD but you can only listen instead of watch(obviously!). There good, but on the DVD there are parts when Billie Joe is messing about with the crowd and all you can hear is cheering which doesn t really work on a CD. But oh well. Its still really good and I would give the package 5 out of 5 because of the DVD. But buy American Idiot, because that is Green Days best album!!!

Great package for £5 - I just got this and its a great buy for £5, giving you a live CD and DVD in one package. The editting of the DVD is very haphazard, and takes a bit of getting used to at first viewing, but there s a lot of effort gone into the presentation and editting that you dont get with bigger bands and more expensive packages.Slightly strange watching a punk band cover Lulu s shout, but its all great fun and Green Day are a great live act. I am also now planning to see them next time round, but I think this was the tour to catch them on really.
